Hack Your Future Belgium* is a coding school for refugees and newcomers, active in different countries across Europe, and in Belgium part of the umbrella organization Open Knowledge Belgium. Currently refugees and newcomers have very few opportunities that prepare them for the job-market, despite having so much potential among them. We prepare our students to become the next generation of much needed developers. We coach them in becoming full-stack web developers with the clear aim of preparing them for the job-market.

We’re looking for someone who creates value and opportunities with the outside world for Hack Your Future Belgium and our students. Working with the General Coordinator, Educational Coordinator, and our dedicated community of volunteers, you will help Hack Your Future bring new talent into the tech world.

The Partnership & Communication Coordinator’s principle objectives are to support the active HYF Be community, and to make sure our students find opportunities after the program by growing our network of companies and partner organizations. Your efforts will contribute to the graduation of 60 students in 2021 and a sustainable future for the organization.

As Partnership and Communication Coordinator, you’ll have as main responsibilities:

Partnerships

  • Actively look for internship and job opportunities for the Hack Your Future graduates
  • Maintain relationships with partner-companies
  • Matching graduate students to available internship and job opportunities
  • Overseeing career training sessions together with our volunteers
  • Develop and organize events for Hack Your Future students and alumni
  • Follow-up with graduates on how they perform on the job-market

Communication

  • Develop and implement a communication plan
  • Translate partnerships into stories that serve our mission
  • Update and maintain our website and SoMe communication channels
  • Manage our internal communication channels for students, alumni and volunteers

Teamwork

  • Proactively look for partnerships to make Hack Your Future Belgium sustainable
  • Support of General and Education Coordinator to optimize our students’ experience
  • Find partners for our Students’ Final Project together with the Educational Director
  • Contribute to long-term strategy & directions along with the OKBE Board

You will report directly to the General Coordinator of Hack Your Future, and secondarily to the General Coordinator of Open Knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor or equivalent skills and experience
  • Min. 3y of relevant work experience
  • Background in sales/recruitment/fund-raising/communications management
  • Passionate about helping people
  • Enthusiastic about closing deals with partners
  • Great social skills.You enjoy speaking to students and company representatives (HR/IT)
  • Both independent and a team player
  • Able to plan, keep deadlines and manage the communication planning
  • Goal oriented. You like to get things done
  • Hands-on mentality. You are a creative problem-solver
  • Available regularly on Sundays to help oversee HYF classes
  • Available on scheduled evenings for meetings with students & volunteers
  • Fluency in English and French/Dutch (both written and spoken)

Very nice to haves:

  • Immediate availability is a plus
  • Network in tech-sector
  • Experience in photo and/or video editing
  • Experience setting up community events
  • (Basic) Knowledge of software development
  • Experience working in an intercultural context
  • All forms of volunteer work experience
  • Experience with Open Source projects
